ATA 104 AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE TYPE TRAININGS

  • DESCRIPTION:

    This training program is based on ATA 104 specifications which describe an approach to the development of training materials, for use in training aircraft maintenance personnel. It provides guidelines on basic standards for equipment use in the presentation of the training materials, providing detailed description, operation, components location, removal/installation, and bite and troubleshooting procedures to the maintenance manual level. There are three categories used to define these levels of trainings and the requirements of each category include:


    • ATA Level I - General Familiarisation Category:

      Brief overview of the airframe, systems and Powerplant and familiarizes the trainee with the airplane systems layout, normal functioning and operation and their major components a 5 days course

    • ATA Level II- Ramp and Transit Category:

      Provides a basic system overview of controls, indicators, principal components, including their location and purpose, servicing and minor troubleshooting. A 10 days course for aircraft technicians.

    • ATA Level III- Line and Base Maintenance Category::

      The course entails detailed system description, including Component location, System operation and troubleshooting procedures. A 20 days course for licensed aircraft engineers or system engineers.


  • TARGET GROUP AND REQUISITES:

    Open to all personnel involved directly with aircraft maintenance that currently holds an Airframe & Power Plant and (or) Avionics, and (or) aircraft maintenance license or shows suitability to be issued with one.


  • DURATION:

    Airframe & Power Plant Course is 20 days (120 hours); Avionic Course is 15 days (90 hours). Airframe & Power Plant and Avionics (A&C/AVO) course hours is 25 days (150 hours). Ramp & Transit is 10 days while Familiarization, Recurrent/Refresher are 5 days respectively.


  • COURSE OBJECTIVES:

    In addition to the information contained in the Level 1 and Level 2 training, at completion of the Level 3 training, the student should be able to:

    • Demonstrate a theoretical knowledge of aircraft systems and structures and inter- relationships with other systems.

    • Interpret results from various sources and measurements and apply corrective action as appropriate.

    • Perform system, engine, component & functional checks as stated in the aircraft maintenance manual.

    • Correlate information for the purpose of making decisions in respect of fault diagnosis and rectification to maintenance manual level.

    • Demonstrate the use, interpret and apply appropriate documentation including instructions for continued airworthiness, maintenance manual, structural repair manual, troubleshooting manual, illustrated parts catalogue, etc.
